Engineering future with VDMA

VDMA- the German Mechanical Engineering Industry Association is promoting the knowledge of benefits of the mechanical engineer sine last 25 years. With the advent of industry 4.0 it now have a bigger message to deliver to the global textile industry.

This year, with the 125th anniversary of the VDMA, it has put together the series of multimedia reports on a new website here the major textile related issues faced by the world are examined including; energy, work, health, material and urbanization.

The managing director of VDMA, Thomas Waldmann says that “Since the beginning of time, humans have longed to take their future into their own hands,” he further added that “and since then, humans have been designing, building and using machines for this purpose. Humans, machines and progress are thus intrinsically linked. Humans use machines to improve the lives of all on this planet, but what are the biggest challenges facing mankind and what contribution are machines and mechanical engineers already making today to solve them?”

He also said that “Throughout the year, we will publish more reports on the major challenges of our time. What will work look like in the future and what roles will robots play in it? How will energy be used tomorrow? These are a few of the questions we will seek to address.”

There are almost 120 important manufacturers of the textile machinery and accessories, from different trade sectors that are affiliated with the VDMA Textile Machinery Association and are regular exhibitors are the ITMA. Mutually, they all are responsible for the annual sales of around €3.4 million- the major share of which is achieved by exports.
