Mian Nauman Kabeer, Provincial Livestock and Dairy Minister has said that after textile, Pakistan’s largest export earning sector is leather industry.
Currently, leather industry is sharing approx. $980 million per year exports but has the potential to increase by improving quality and diversification. In quality Pakistan leather is second to Italy in the world. It is crucial for people in Pakistan to learn how to salvage sacrificial animal skins so the country is enables to earn maximum foreign exchange.
An initiative has been taken by Livestock department to educate slaughterers and animal farmers. The department is engaging in educating public to preserve the animal skins on scientific grounds.
