Privileged treatment required for Pakistani exporters

Entities from business community of Pakistan have urged the government to take ground measures to facilitate a prominent increase in the exports in Pakistan and to decrease the volume of imports in order to help avert the trade deficit. It was also demanded from the government to provide attractive incentives with special packages to decrease the taxes and the privileged treatments for the exports. The words were given by the APBF on 25th of august 2017.

It called the energy crisis as one of the most critical challenge and its resolution would ensure a sufficient and affordable supply of electricity that will have a positive impact on the overall economic condition of the country. Textile sectors and the exports related to textile sector are the most effected in this manner.

Further it was said that there is a need to strengthener the law and order situation to provoke international investors to invest in Pakistan which will optimize economic progress in the country.

The president of the APBF, while speaking on the occasion said that; “Pakistan has a great opportunity to increase its share in global trade through fresh economic activities generated by the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, regional trade arrangements and the Strategic Trade Policy Framework.”

He further added; “At this critical juncture, the government must take bold steps to reduce the cost of doing business, provide easy market access, strengthen its institutions and improve competitiveness through professional training and lowering costs of industrial inputs.”

He placed an emphasis on generating a business friendly environment to restore the confidence and interest of export industries. While pointing out that the government is already negotiation with Thailand and turkey for free trade agreement for textile and other sectors, he said that; “Exports must increase 30% annually. There is an urgent need to bring down the cost of all essential utilities, on a par with regional competitors, to promote the country’s value-added textile exports.”
