Thermore presents 100% recycled blow-in insulation – Ecodown Fibers

Thermore launches Ecodown Fibers that promote sustainability and cruelty free approach. Recent surveys reveal that 80% of cold clothing is insulated using duck feathers due to lack of synthetic solutions that provide the same look and loft as down.

Ecodown fibers ensure feathers like 90/10 high quality loft that can be turned into a garment. For the calculation of loft of down products the fill power test is done in which fibers are blown through a cylinder and their volume is measured. High fill power is going to result in puffier jacket. Ecodown has shown amazing results of fill power of over 600 guaranteeing the products puffiness.

The insulation is durable due to its multi-shape structure, slowing high resistance and prevents clumping while washing.

According to the company, “Not only are Ecodown fibres animal-free, but they are also made from 100% PET bottles. Every jacket insulated with Thermore’s fibers allows recycling up to 10 post consumer bottles. Along with a warm feel, the insulation achieves a soft touch without the use of microfibers, which would contaminate oceans and, ultimately, our own food.”

Ecodown fibers will be exhibited at Milano Unica, Première Vision, Performance days New York City, Outdoor retailer and Munich Fabric Start.
