Bonobos acquired by WHP global

Menswear brand Bonobos has been acquired by brand management company WHP Global, also based in New York, in partnership with Columbus, Ohio-headquartered retailer Express, for $75 million in total.

Bonobos is a men’s clothing brand that was founded in 2007 and is headquartered in New York City.

The company was acquired by Walmart in 2017, but it continued to operate as a separate brand.

Bonobos is known for its high-quality clothing that combines classic styles with modern fits and colors. The brand offers a wide range of clothing, including pants, shirts, suits, blazers, outerwear, and accessories. The company also has a strong online presence, with a website that offers a variety of features, including a “Try Before You Buy” program that allows customers to try on clothing before making a purchase.



WHP Global is a New York-based brand management company that focuses on the acquisition and management of consumer brands. The company was founded in 2018 by Yehuda Shmidman, who previously served as the CEO of Sequential Brands Group.

WHP Global acquired the Bonobos brand from Walmart in 2020. As part of the acquisition, WHP Global assumed control of Bonobos’ operations, including its e-commerce platform, physical stores, and wholesale business.

WHP Global has stated that it plans to expand the Bonobos brand into new product categories and geographic markets.

The brand is well-regarded for its trousers and the fit of its jeans, which range from stretch denim to premium-priced selvedge. Having paid million, WHP is now the owner of the Bonobos brand.

Express contributed the remaining $25 million by purchasing the business’ operating assets.
