In response to the recent US announcement to impose tariffs on steel and aluminum imports, its European allies have warned that they could retaliate, with American products like blue jeans, Harley-Davidson motorbikes and bourbon being possible targets.
The European Union (EU) has published a ten-page list of US products that could be subject to tariffs.
The list also includes T-shirts, singlets and other vests of wool or fine animal hair or man-made fibres, women’s footwear with outer soles and uppers of leather, peanut butter, orange juice, cranberries and household articles of stainless steel, according to a report published by the US National Public Radio.
Europe will not sit idly while its industry is hit with unfair measures, putting thousands of jobs at risk; European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker was quoted as saying.
The EU is seeking comments from industries affected by the US tariffs.
