Kering to further reduce carbon print

Luxury group Kering boasts of marketing brands like Gucci, Saint Laurent, Bottega Veneta, Balenciaga, Alexander McQueen, and Brioni and has announced a commitment to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions by 40 percent, setting 2035 to meet the target.

It aims to reduce, restore and regenerate under its climate strategy.

The company has plans to operate under a biodiversity strategy and regenerate funds for nature and animal welfare. Moreover, the group is committed to periodically informing its consumers about the progress the company has made on the sustainability front.



The company is also making efforts to improve a lot of women in the supply chain and preserve their craftsmanship. Its future ambitions include going circularity on raw materials, and production processes, establishing innovation labs and promoting new business models.



The group has selected its figures for 2021 as its baseline. Kering unveiled the new target ahead of the publication of a sustainability progress report on March 22. In this report, Kering will give an account of its sustainability performance between 2020 and 2023.



Kering first set its sustainability targets in 2012.

On making this new announcement, chief executive, François-Henri Pinault, said the group had made “significant strides” since then but said it had also increased its ambitions and had decided to move upwards from reductions in carbon intensity to what he called “absolute reductions”.
