WEKO specializes in the contactless, minimum application of fluid and powder-based media to a wide variety of materials. Gul Ahmed Textile Mills Ltd. has recently installed WEKO-SIGMA, the high-precision minimum application system. WEKO arranged training sessions for operating WEKO-SIGMA and nine professionals from Gul Ahmed Textile Mills Ltd. were trained successfully. The WEKO Training Certificates were distributed by Matthias Hofmann, Key Account Manager, Weitmann & Konrad GmbH & Co. KG to the trained professionals operating WEKO SIGMA at an event that took place on 11th December 2024 at Gul Ahmed Textile Mills Ltd. in Karachi, Pakistan.
WEKO-SIGMA is an innovative and resource-saving rotor spray technology. Water—or oil-based liquids can be applied uncomplicated and contact-free. The rotors are individually supplied with the desired amount of liquid via specially designed throttles and the frequency-controlled pump. The constant rotational speed of the rotors divides the liquid at the plate edge by centrifugal force into micro-droplets which are uniformly discharged onto the web.The certificates were distributed among Gul Ahmed Textile Mills Limited employees: Atiq Ahmed. Senior Manager Maintenance, Syed Uzair Hussain. Deputy Manager Maintenance, Shaikh Muhammad Saad. Assistant Manager Maintenance, Ashfaq Ishaq. Deputy Manager Maintenance, Zamar Saleem. Assistant Engineer Maintenance, Muhammad Waseem. In charge of Maintenance Finishing, Ahsan Khan. Supervisor Maintenance Finishing, Amir Shazad. Manager and Rab Nawaz. Head Operator.

Zaheer Ahmed, Chief Operating Officer – Processing Management. Gul Ahmed Textile Mills Limited said, “We are one of the biggest producers and the largest hometextile exporter last year in Pakistan with belief in sustainable practices and growth. Adopting advanced technology has become imperative in the face of escalating energy crises and soaring costs. We must pivot towards sustainable solutions, and I firmly believe this innovation stands out as the most efficient in terms of cost and resource savings. Operating this machine around the clock has brought significant benefits to our operations, and we are grateful to WEKO for persuading us to integrate this cutting-edge technology into our processes.

”Matthias Hofmann. Key-Account-Manager. Textiles and Nonwoven. WEKO said, “We are different technology from normal textile finishing, it is a different way of thinking with a very precise process and that is why it was very important to train them in what WEKO System offers. This machine at Gul Ahmed Textile Mills Ltd. is our first reference for the finishing industry, the customer is saving more than 50% of stenter energy, chemicals, and 40% of water. Next year, we will be exhibiting at IGATEX because customers want to see us, the physical meeting is always very important for us. This is the reason why we are here at Gul Ahmed Textile Mills Limited.”

Irfan Ahmad Hashmi said, “This new technology of spraying is sort of a revolution in the Pakistani textile market. We are trying to train all the Pakistani end-users for this new technology, and how to deal with it because conventionally they were more towards padder technology and using squeezers. We have been training them, on how to use our spraying technology effectively and they are excited to use this technology for dyeing at Gul Ahmed Textile Mills Ltd.”

WEKO-SIGMA rotor carrier with its unique spray window technology. Here, precisely defined, double-overlapping spray angles are generated in two planes, which exhibit a high degree of consistency. Even in applications with a working width of up to 7.5 meters, the application is uniform and precise.

The application rates can be set in 0.1 ml/m² increments with fully automatic speed adjustment. This means that only as much medium is applied as is necessary for the desired product function/quality. An integrated shutter system enables a quick function change between start/stop/standby via touch or machine signal.
