Groz-Beckert held a textile symposium, the fabric year 2018, providing insights of the current market developments. Over 150 participants came from over 20 countries including Asia, America and Europe.
In the opening of the symposium the key speakers focused on the rising global competition between USA and China and its impact on Europe.
Mr Andreas reported that the global fiber industry has achieved a growth of 4% in 2017 after 4 years of decline.
Although synthetic fibers have been in demand; still natural fibers have shown dynamic growth. Moving on the development of national fiber and fabric production status divided into knitted and woven fabrics also knows as nonwovens were discussed.
Presentation of Ms Gail Strickler, President of Global Trade Brookfield Associates addressed the transpacific partnership from the Asian perspective, the status of negotiations and the expected implications of the agreement for the global textile trade.
Then there was a detailed examination of the markets in Vietnam, Indonesia, Germany, Italy and Turkey.
The “The Fabric Year 2018” symposium concluded with a buffet dinner, which offered space for interactive discussions and exchanges.
