London Fashion Week May be the Biggest Event in Fashion Industry

There’s been talk in the fashion industry about the biggest fashion event of the year happening which is London Fashion Week. Inaugurated in 1984 in West London, in a car park, the first show was on a quite small scale, introducing 25 designers with only 17 catwalk shows. However, fast forward to 2020, the numbers have grown significantly large. Including 72 catwalk shows and 250+ designers, with 500 invited guests and 100,000 attendees, research points out that this makes it bigger than the Milan and Paris Fashion Weeks combined.

London fashion week is only able to secure this title for themselves due to their peculiar approach which is to solely focus on the emerging talents and providing young designers with a platform to showcase their designs. When compared with Paris and New York fashion weeks, the Paris show focus on international affair while the New York show focus on hosting famous names. Due to London Fashion Week’s unbiased approach, it discovered good talented designers and introduced them to the industry like Alexander McQueen, Stella McCartney, and Simone Rocha.

Moreover, the London Show is filled with twists and turns full of unexpected surprises and that is what keeps the attendees on their feet. London Fashion Week might be the smallest when compared with the other 4 but it has come quickly to the top of the fashion industry. With nothing to prove, the show keeps up to date with the changes and quickly adapts to the new trends. This is why London Fashion Week has gotten the title of being the biggest fashion event of the year.
