Turkiye’s home textile exports to Europe have experienced a notable decline in 2024, falling to $2 billion, a decrease of 2.5% compared to the previous year. This decline marks the second consecutive year of reduced exports to the European market, which has historically been a major destination for Turkiye’s home textile products. In total, the country’s home textile exports saw a slight drop of 1.2%, with overall exports amounting to $3.3 billion.
The decrease in exports can be attributed to various global factors, including shifting market demands, increasing competition from other countries, and changing economic conditions in Europe. The ongoing challenges in the global economy have impacted the purchasing power of European consumers, thereby reducing demand for home textiles. Additionally, Turkiye faces stiff competition from other low-cost textile-producing nations, which may have contributed to the decline in exports.
Despite the setback, Turkiye remains a key player in the global home textile market, and its European market share, although reduced, continues to be significant. In response to these challenges, the Turkish home textile sector is likely to focus on diversifying its export destinations and exploring emerging markets to offset the losses in Europe. As Turkiye navigates these challenges, there is optimism that the sector will find new opportunities to stabilize and recover in the coming years, leveraging its established reputation for high-quality home textile products.
