Pakistan’s textile exports saw a notable increase of 7.22% in the fiscal year 2024–25 (FY25), reaching $17.88 billion, up from $16.68 billion in FY24, according to data released by the All Pakistan Textile Mills Association (APTMA). This growth reflects a positive trend for the country’s largest export sector, despite the industry still falling short of its record high of $19.30 billion achieved in FY22. The recovery signals renewed momentum after a challenging period marked by energy shortages, rising production costs, and global economic uncertainties.
June 2025 recorded monthly exports of $1.53 billion—an increase of 7.75% compared to June 2024’s $1.42 billion. For the 11-month period from July 2024 to May 2025, textile exports totaled $16.37 billion, marking a 7.37% year-on-year rise. Major contributors to this growth included knitwear exports, which rose by 14.46%, readymade garments with a 16.35% increase, and bed-wear which climbed 10.56% over the same period.
Despite the uptick, the textile sector remains below its FY22 performance, underlining the need for strategic policy support to overcome structural challenges. Industry leaders have repeatedly called for consistent energy supplies, improved export incentives, and simplified rebate mechanisms to boost competitiveness and regain lost ground.
The textile industry continues to be the backbone of Pakistan’s export economy, contributing over 55% to the country’s total exports. Sustaining this growth trajectory will require targeted reforms and investment in value-added production to ensure long-term stability and global market expansion.
