Uzbekistan partners with WRAP to elevate ethical and sustainable textile production

New alliance aims to certify 100 factories and align the country’s textile industry with global standards

Uzbekistan has signed a strategic partnership with the Worldwide Responsible Accredited Production (WRAP) to advance ethical, socially responsible, and environmentally sustainable manufacturing across its textile and garment industries.

Key objectives of the partnership

  • WRAP certification expansion: At least 100 Uzbek textile and apparel enterprises will be certified within two years.
  • Capacity building: WRAP will lead training programs and workshops on workers’ rights, occupational safety, and environmental management for factory managers and compliance specialists.
  • “Excellence in Compliance” initiative: Enterprises will implement internal audit systems to uphold continuous ethical standards.
  • Local WRAP office: Plans are underway to establish a national center for responsible production, providing ongoing consultation and certification support.

The collaboration also aims to integrate ESG principles into Uzbekistan’s textile roadmap and align national practices with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

WRAP will work with global partners such as the Association of Professional Social Compliance Auditors (APSCA) to train local auditors and enhance transparency.

By embedding international best practices in compliance and sustainability, the initiative positions Uzbekistan as a rising hub for responsibly produced textiles—a move likely to strengthen investor confidence and access to premium export markets.
