A new roadmap to a safer environment – ZDHC

A guidance document for ZDHC waste water treatment technologies, written by Mr Mohan Seneviratne, has been published to be used by industrialists to improve waste water discharge quality in textile, apparel and footwear industry and support the supply chain. The industries under review consumes huge amounts of water in production processes and then discharge water in a way that is harmful to the environment and surrounding communities. This has become a huge problem globally, especially in China, South and Southeast Asia.

Mr Frank Michel, ZDHC executive director says, “When we released the ZDHC Wastewater Guidelines, we took the first step for the industry to treat wastewater in a harmonized way. The Guidelines present a aligned set of parameters, limit values and test methods to ensure brands and suppliers are working to the same set of expectations.”

Waste water treatment being a complex process, it requires regional training programs and technical overviews that help meet the requirements of ZDHC waste water guidelines.
