Andritz has introduced a new pre-needler for the smooth handle heavy nonwoven webs

Handling heavy nonwoven webs for felts and insulation is problematic. Things become more challenging while dealing with natural fibers. To solve these issues, Andritz will introduce its new pre-needler that could make the process smooth.

The machine will process shoddy and natural fibers to produce heavy felts. The start-up of the machine is scheduled for the second quarter of 2021. Andritz will supply an elliptical cylinder pre-needler to the plant of Amarande SAS in Lussac les Châteaux, France. Established in 1990, Amarande is an important French producer of nonwovens, specialized in felt and wadding from recycled textile and natural fibers (wool, cotton, hemp, flax, jute, etc.). The company operates in various markets such as furniture, green spaces, horticultural crops, and insulation.

Andritz offers a complete range of elliptical cylinder pre-needlers  PA.169, PA.2000, and PA.3000 – serving different weights, widths, speeds, and punching capacity. These pre-needlers have been produced since the 1960s and have a large installed base worldwide.

The pre-needler units have become a must for the production of heavy products and unique applications and demanding applications like automotive components. They are a key success factor in enabling the subsequent needling machines to process heavy mats smoothly and control the progressive draft through the consolidation process.
