Appeal to allow GDs for duty drawbacks by textile exporters

The federal government has been urged by textile exporters to allow goods declaration generated till 30th of June 2018 for application of duty drawback scheme. The duty drawback claim issues were raised by Muhammad Jawed Bilwani, Chairman of Pakistan Apparel Forum in a letter to Federal Minister Commerce and Textile Industry, Mian Misbah ur Rehman.

As per the Ministry of Textile Industry notification dated 12th Dec, 2017 on duty drawbacks 2017-18, exporters have to submit claims according to shipment date basis and allowed drawbacks will be for the shipment made from 1st July 2017 to 30th June 2018.

He further proposed the shipment date of exports, of which the GDs were generated till 30th June 2018 should be extended till 30th July 2018 for enabling exporters to apply the drawback under fiscal year 2018 and avail the incremental drawback.

The same request has beensent to Ministry Commerce and Textile Secretaries. But, the ministries have informed that the extension can only be granted by the EEC, Economic Coordination of Cabinet.

Mr Muhammad Jawed Bilwani, Chairman of Pakistan Apparel Forum said, “However, we understand that extension may be allowed by the Ministry as per procedural requirement to facilitate exporters and genuine submission in the interest of Textile Industry.”
