Boohoo asks Turkish suppliers to match Pakistan prices

Boohoo has at least established that Pakistani apparel of the same quality is much cheaper than other suppliers as it has asked for more than 30 percent discount from its Turkish suppliers to match Pakistan prices.

The company has subtly warned some Turkish suppliers of cancelling its orders if they don’t comply with new pricing. The group has written to some of its Turkey-based suppliers to revise some of the prices it had agreed with them after recent price benchmark changes achieved in Pakistan.

Boohoo is a UK-based e-commerce fashion retailer that was founded in 2006 by Mahmud Kamani and Carol Kane. The company caters to individuals aged 16-30 with its fast fashion clothing and fashion accessories. Boohoo has made a name for itself with affordable clothing that is on-trend, with lines for men, women, and children.

The company offers clothing, shoes, and accessories through its website, as well as through its other brands, including PrettyLittleThing and Nasty Gal. The company’s headquarters are located in Manchester, England, but it has warehouses and distribution centers in several countries including the UK, the US, and Europe.

Boohoo is an online-only retailer and does not have any physical stores. The company has a global presence, with operations in many countries, and international sales make up a significant portion of its revenue.

Boohoo has faced criticism for its labor practices and environmental impact, however, the company has made changes to its operations and has pledged to improve its sustainability efforts. Boohoo’s revenue has grown substantially, with the company reporting a revenue of £1.23 billion in 2020.

It is also understood that most of the items involved are either in production or have been shipped. Boohoo works with more than 250 suppliers in Turkey, according to the company’s factory list published at the start of 2022.

It follows the group’s 10 percent discount request earlier this month on outstanding orders from its suppliers. Last week, Boohoo revealed it had plunged to a £90.7m pre-tax loss in its full-year results and sales dropped 11 percent, after shoppers pulled back on spending amid the ongoing cost-of-living crisis.
