Canadian apparel import grows 31.34% from Jan to Oct 2022

Apparel imports increased by 31.34 percent in Canada to $10.56 billion in the first ten months of 2022 making it one of the top ten largest apparel consumption markets.

Since its domestic production of apparel is limited the Canadian apparel market provides decent market access to the global manufacturers of clothing around the world. Global brands, wholesalers, and fashion brands are very active in the Canadian market.

The apparel imports in Canada stood at $1.19 billion in October 2022 which was higher by 16 percent when compared with imports during the corresponding month last year. However, there was a 13.86 percent decline in imports when compared with imports of $1.38 billion in September 2022.

China exported apparel worth US $ 353.70 million to Canada during October ’22, which was 27.83 percent less than imports recorded in September 2022 but was 1.53 percent higher on yearly basis. Vietnam shipped apparel worth $199.15 million to Canada which was 3.81 percent higher than September  2022, but a whopping 81.7 percent high when compared with the corresponding month of the previous year.

Bangladesh also registered a healthy rise of 30.57 percent on a monthly basis in its exports to Canada in October 2022 which amounted to $165.33 million.
