A main goal of modern finishing plants is high production efficiency rates of quality goods. One approach for reducing error rates and increasing reproducibility is the automation of the chemical and auxiliaries supply. Because, faulty quantity measurements or mix‐ups of products or auxiliaries are the most common sources of errors in the daily operation of dye houses. Furthermore, delays in the supply of chemicals and auxiliaries prolong the process times.
In this context, the German textile machine manufacturer Thies GmbH & Co. KG is offering a product family for semi or fully automated weighing, dispensing and dosing of chemicals, dyes and auxiliaries under the name of Multi Product Supply (MPS):
The MPS‐L (liquids) automates the transport of all liquid chemicals typically used in a dye house to the designated destinations in the defined quantities. A high‐quality rotary piston pump is used to ensure that even chemicals with high viscosity can be transported without problems. The requested additions are pumped to the specified destination through a dedicated distribution pipeline. After each chemical request, the lines are automatically flushed.
The MPS‐D (dissolving) is used primarily for dissolving dyes. After it is added to a weighing container,
the dyestuff is dissolved fully automatically based on the configured program and transported to the dyeing system. This process takes place within an enclosed system, which is absolutely dust‐free.
The MPS‐S (solids) transfers the solids used in the dye house, such as Glauber’s salt or sodium carbonate, to the dyeing plants automatically. The solid material quantity is determined in the weighing and mixing vessel by means of a scale. The measurement and weighing precision is continuously monitored. The solid material is mixed with minimal quantities of water and pumped into the dyeing system.
The MPS Colourmatic automates and controls the dissolving and supply of powdered dyes. The fully automatic version of the MPS Colourmatic controls the entire path of the dyes, from the warehouse to the dyeing system. The storage, weighing, dissolving and provision of the dyes are at all stages integrated in the automatic cycle. A supervisory (centrally hosted) production planning system controls the process organisation of the complete dye house by bidirectional communication. The MPS systems monitor the delivery destinations (tanks). The synchronization ensures an optimal process and production sequence. MPS systems integrate themselves seamlessly into the concept of a future‐oriented, efficient dye house, delivering large increases in productivity and quality.
At the same time, the automatic weighing, dissolving and provision of dyes and chemicals leads to increased dyeing quality results, maximum reproducibility, savings of human resources, significantly increased occupational and environmental safety, as well as to an optimized consumption of products used.
