In a three-way collaboration, Crocs, Levis, and Proleta Re Art have resulted in the introduction of Crocs All-Terrain Clog with an explosion of color in which Levis deadstock was used for upper.
It is an interesting collaboration as Levis is well well-known denim giant, Proleta Re Art, is a Japanese designer specializing in one-of-one pieces made from upcycled denim Crocs is a brand that is famous for its unique and distinctive foam clog-style shoes. Crocs shoes are easily recognizable by their chunky, slip-on design with ventilation holes on the upper, and they are available in a wide range of colors and styles. Over the years, Crocs has expanded its product line to include various accessories and footwear options, catering to a wide range of tastes and preferences.
As the story goes White Oaks is the denim that came out of the Cone Mills Corporation’s North Carolina factory of the same name. The company has worked with Levi’s since 1915 when a deal known as the “Golden Handshake” was signed for the exclusive production of Levi’s 501 jeans. The White Oak factory’s selvage denim was, and still is the gold standard. Much to the dismay of denim enthusiasts, White Oak closed in 2017 as the last selvage denim mill in the United States. Its dead stock is now used to make a limited edition of Crocs clogs in various colors. The clog maker makes a limited edition of 60 pairs of clogs clad with White Oak deadstock denim pulled from Levi’s archives.
The shoes were made for “promotional purposes” only, which means you’ll have to be deemed “friends and family” to be given a pair or hope a few end up on the resale market. Less limited, however, will be the Levi’s X Crocs “Shashiko” All-Terain Clogs made without Proleta Re Art and expected for a Sept. 22 release through both brands. The dark, possibly raw denim upper comes with an intricate stitching pattern that makes the clog a far cry from a consolation prize.
