Emtec Electronic to introduce its innovative TSA machine for measuring haptic parameters of fabrics

Emtec Electronic GmbH will introduce industry specialists, a unique method and device for measuring textiles’ haptic parameters and nonwoven materials at the World Congress’s premiere on Textile Coating. World Congress on Textile Coating will be held at an online event on 11-12 February and 18-19 February 2021.

Emtec’s Tactile Sensation Analyzer (TSA) gives a calculated value for the hand-feel/touch of a fabric based on the parameters of softness, smoothness, stiffness, flexibility, recovery, and elasticity. This data enables precise adjustments and reproducible results to ensure a quality product, the company reports. The German company Emtec Electronic GmbH develops, produces, and sells testing technologies worldwide. The Emtec TSA Tactile Sensation Analyzer is a testing device that measures these parameters objectively and independently. A hand feel value can be calculated by unique mathematical models adapted to a specific market and product. Furthermore, the elongation and recovery characteristics can be measured with the device. The availability of the single parameters is helpful in the R&D, process optimization, and troubleshooting; the calculated hand feel the value is useful in the incoming control and quality assurance

Alexander Grüner, Emtec’s Global Marketing, and Business Development Manager will explain and demonstrate the TSA’s measuring principle, which is the only existing device to fulfill all industry requirements for textiles and nonwovens. According to Grüner, the new device has come at just the right time to help manufacturers meet changing industry standards and customer expectations. He further said, “There’s definitely a shift toward a stronger focus on the quality of fabrics, both on the manufacturing side and the consumer side. Consumers are becoming more aware and discerning about what fabrics they buy. They want to know how the fabric was made, if it is sustainable, and they want it to be pleasing to touch. And manufacturers are striving to keep up with this change in demand.”
