FIEDMC seeking assistance from technical universities of US

Chairman Faisalabad Industrial Estate Development and Management Company (FIEDMC), Mr. Mian Kashif Ashfaq, has asked the United States for support from technical universities located there to extend local research and development.

FIEDMC was formally registered under the company’s ordinance 1984 to promote Pakistan’s economic development through the establishment of industrial estates; it serves as a critical Government entity in developing and diversifying the economy of Pakistan through the creation of specialized industrial zones. FIEDMC has undertaken three projects of national importance.

Many American investors have shown interest in the economic zones, and therefore, all possible assistance would be provided for the development of the FIEDMC, stated the US Consul in Pakistan. He said this during a meeting with FIEDMC Chairman via video link. Mian Kashif had earlier informed Mr. Molina that a 450-acre airport would be constructed under the public-private partnership to facilitate foreign investors’ access to FIEDMC economic zones.

He further shared that excellent facilities would be provided to the international investors in these economic zones. He also stated that FIEDMC was currently focusing more on establishing high-tech industries in Allama Iqbal Industrial City, its preferred economic zone. He said that FIEDMC projects are being advertised in the international media to attract more foreign investors. Under CPEC flagship projects, Special Economic Zones (SEZs) have been created with substantial incentives to facilitate foreign investors interested in establishing their industries and other business projects in these zones.
