GIZ FABRIC and ILO developed an online platform for the global textile sector

Asia Garment Hub is an online platform developed by GIZ Fabric and ILO to support the global textile sector. German development agency, GIZ, and the International Labour Organization (ILO) were looking to initiate a platform intended to be a one-stop-shop providing the latest news, insights, and resources affecting work practices and sustainability for Asian garments textile manufacturers and workers.

The Asia Garment Hub aims to do this by bringing together manufacturers, brands, trade unions, employer organizations, development partners, journalists, civil society, policymakers, and other interested parties in one resource-rich central destination.  Access to the Hub is free of charge, with website navigation and content offered in English and ten other languages, including Indonesian, Malay, Burmese, Bengali, Chinese, Hindi, Khmer, Sinhalese, Urdu, and Vietnamese.

The project supports decent work and sustainability in the Asian garment and textile sector by enhancing regional knowledge and policy coherence and providing industry-level support to improve industrial relations, gender equality, environmental sustainability, and business competitiveness.

The key features of the Asia Garment Hub include a comprehensive resource library, an interactive industry map, country data and insights, and access to training, expertise, and online discussions. Alexandra Behns, the coordinator for regional cooperation of GIZ FABRIC, said, “Asia is the heart of the global garment and textile sector. By bringing together information, expertise, and knowledge Asia Garment Hub will become the ‘go to’ destination on sustainability and supply chain governance issues.”
