Government makes efforts to revolutionize the cotton industry through a scheme of incentives

To benefit the national economy, a proposal of incentives has been devised by the Government to build up the morale of the farmers so that more cotton can be yielded which will ultimately benefit the exports and save foreign exchange.

According to the stats, in the last season of 2020-21, a decline of 1.3 percent in the growth of cotton was recorded when compared with the previous year. Therefore; In the preparation of the season to come, testing of about 30,000 tonnes cotton seeds of different varieties have been done by the Federal Seed Certification and Registration Department to ensure that only the best quality 100 per cent certified, pest resistant and climate tolerant high yielding seed varieties will be provided to the farmers. Moreover, a training has been carried out at the Central Cotton Research Institute where about 300 cotton growers were trained and given instructions on use of best crop management practices for a better cotton yield.

The current leadership group of the country has made all the right choices to stabilize the cotton industry and the textile sector as it was facing major cash crop and shortage of industrial raw material for the textile sector.
