HANESbrands announces 2030 goals and progress

HanesBrands Inc., a global leader in iconic apparel brands, is releasing its 2021 Sustainability Summary Report outlining progress and plans toward reaching aggressive sustainability goals by 2030. The details of progress are inspiring for other brands also, which is based on 3Ps i.e., People, Product, and Planet.
People
• 1.4 million lives impacted
• 9.4 million items of essential clothing were donated to 80 organizations
• 49% of U.S. leaders at the senior manager level and above are women
Planet
• 11% reduction in Scope 1 and 2 emissions*; set science-based emissions reduction targets for 2030
• 48% of electricity came from renewable sources
• 92% of waste diverted from landfills
Product
• 61% sustainable cotton used in HanesBrands products
• 15% reduction in single-use plastics
• 5% reduction in packaging weight

Goals 2025
By 2025, the company will:
• Achieve zero waste across all the operations and support key suppliers to do the same.
• Align the wastewater with Zero Discharge of Hazardous Chemicals (ZDHC) standards.
• Manufacture and source products only from facilities that have completed the Higg FEM process and will include Higg FEM scores in the factory compliance evaluations.
Goals 2030
The range of other Planet goals by 2030 include:
• A 25% reduction in energy use in the owned facilities and supporting our key suppliers to do the same.
• The use of 100% renewable electricity in our owned operations through direct investment and renewable energy credits, where reasonably possible.
