India became second largest producer of PPEs and masks

India which never produced Covid Grade Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), became the second largest global producer and exporter of PPEs and N-95 masks in just six months during Covid times.

Indian Textiles Minister of State Darshana Jardosh said this at a conference on medical textiles named Meditex 2023, a conference on scope and opportunities in medical textiles.

Jardosh advocated for stakeholders to provide valuable inputs, which would help create a concrete roadmap for the future of the Indian medical textiles industry.

She also stressed increasing the commercialization and of new products, and expanding access to advancement in new technology in the area of medical textiles, while focusing on innovation.

“We also need to have a high level of partnership among academia, industry, and research organizations, which will help in the development and advancement of more medical textiles products,” Jardosh informed.

Jardosh underlined that the Indian government has been constantly offering support with various initiatives like the National Technical Textiles Mission (NTTM), PM MITRA Textile Parks Scheme, PLI Scheme for Textiles, etc.
