Zara owner Inditex is on an expansion spree. It is expected to start its production line in West Bengal In December, and on the other hand, is opening its largest global in Rotterdam and could be ready for this upcoming autumn.
According to Chief Minister Bengal Mamta Banerjee, the State Government will give the corporation 100 acres of concessional land in addition to all other forms of support for a PU factory. The CM is currently visiting Spain in this regard.
Concession is being awarded to Tempe Grupo Inditex (Zara), a major player in the textile industry, which expanding its operations in partnership with private entities to shift manufacturing to West Bengal, with production set to begin before Christmas 2023, revealed Banerjee.
Tempe is the Inditex Group company that designs, markets, and distributes the footwear and accessories sold by all their commercial brands, namely, Zara, Pull&Bear, Massimo Dutti, Bershka, Stradivarius, Oysho, Zara Home and Lefties.
The West Bengal CM met with business representatives in Spain while on a 12-day official visit there. Banerjee is optimistic that the project will contribute to West Bengal’s development, sustainability, and prosperous future.
Meanwhile, Zara, Inditex’s most iconic and profitable brand, will open its largest store in the world in the Dutch city of Rotterdam this autumn. The store will span over 9,000 square meters which will include a Zara Home section, confirmed an official of the company.
The opening of the Zara Coolsingel Rotterdam store could be ready for this upcoming autumn, as the remodeling works are progressing well and are nearly complete. This megastore will surpass in size the one that opened in April in the Plaza de España building in Madrid, which, with an area of nearly 8,000 square meters, was among the largest Zara stores globally.
In terms of the U.S. market, Inditex officially announced the opening of Zara Miami Dadeland, Zara Roosevelt Field Mall in New York, and Zara Baton Rouge in Louisiana this year, as part of the 30 planned projects in the United States.
