In the third panel discussion of Inspiring Change 2019, “Emerging Challenges and Opportunities in Textiles”, the key concept highlighted was if the local textile industry is prepared to overcome the challenges with regards to Human Resource.

The HR framework is based on two factors: Potential candidates and the HR philosophy of the organization. It is crucial challenges that the textile industry is facing today is how to attain talent and then retain it as well.

Furthermore, the panelists also debated on the weak industry university linkages and how they’ve only grown weaker rather than getting stronger.

Dr Khurram Tariq during the panel discussion alerted the audience by informing about how Bangladesh set an example by eradicating child labor from their industry. By adopting an intelligent approach of negotiating “Child eradication Program” with their customers, they made the customers pay for the children’s education which enables them to not only be the bread winner of their family but also get educated. The crux was that we as a nation need to work together, be it the government, associations or the private sector, as success comes to those with a facilitation mindset, not enforcement.
