Earlier, Robertson was elected as regional board member for the Scottish Southern region in 2017 and vice chairman in 2018.

“I’m delighted to be elected as chairman. The current Covid-19 pandemic is unprecedented and a challenging time for us all. British Wool has implemented a Covid-19 response plan to ensure we continue to operate effectively but in a safe manner. Wool producers can be assured that I, as chairman, with the support of my fellow board members will represent your best interests and despite the short term challenges posed by Covid-19, by working together we will come out of this stronger. Our long term focus remains, as is always the case, to maximize the returns you receive from your wool,” Robertson said in a press release.

“It’s more important than ever that we as an industry work together in supporting the long term future of the sheep sector in the UK. British Wool performs an important role by providing a valuable service to all producers with our UK network of depots and collection sites as well as supporting the next generation through our shearing training programme and New Entrant Scheme,” Cottrill said.
