Kelheim Fibres biodegradable wipes receive The Lighthouse by Bavarian Environmental Cluster

Kelheim Fibres has achieved the Lighthouse by Bavarian Environmental Cluster for the “Bio-degradable wet toilet tissue with the viscose specialty fiber VILOFT®” project.

The VILOFT® short cut fibers produced moist toilet tissues disintegrate in the sewage system rapidly which is a result of the fibers special cross section and they can be conveniently disposed of via the toilet. These wipes are 100% biodegradable and pose no threat to waste water system or the environment because the VILOFT® fibers consist of 100% cellulose.

Environmental Cluster of Bavaria annually presents the Lighthouse award to exceptional projects relative to environmental technology that is operational and commercially viable.

Mr Matthew North, Commercial Director at Kelheim Fibres says, “We have been working with solutions for flushable wet wipes for more than ten years. Over this period effective products have been developed and we are proud that our fibres support the waste water management industry and help to protect the environment. Besides the technical solution, one of the big challenges is to increase consumer awareness for this topic – this Lighthouse award is a valuable contribution toward this goal and we are proud of having been selected as a model project!.”
