Pakistan’s strong presence at CAEXPO

Pakistan is making a solid presence at CAEXPO, held from 10-13 September 2021 at Nanning, China. CHINA-ASEAN Exposition is also called CAEXPO for short. It is set up by the departments in charge of economic development and trade in China and the ten countries of ASEAN, in combination with the ASEAN Secretariat and under the proposal of Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao.

Nowadays, China has become Pakistan’s largest trading partner, the largest source of imports, and the second-largest export destination. Since the signing of the China-Pakistan Free Trade Agreement in 2006, the proportion of tariff lines with zero-tariff products between the countries has gradually increased from 35 to 75%. China-Asean countries have over two billion people and a more than $18 trillion economy, which provides an excellent platform to expand its trade with these countries.

Moin ul Haque, Pakistan’s Ambassador to China, said, “Pakistan is one of the few countries with a complete textile ecosystem, from weaving to dyeing, making garments and clothes. “Textile is our most substantial sector so that you can see the products from home textile to ladies’ clothes are all showcased here.”

He expressed his pleasure to see such a beautifully designed pavilion and Pakistani products at Expo, which are essential export products of Pakistan. As many as 14 Pakistani stores set up by Pakistani traders are displaying these different products.
