Poly-spun yarn prices vary in Indian markets

The prices of Indian polyester-cotton yarn and poly-spun yarn declined in India’s Surat market by INR3-4 per kg due to low demand. prices saw bearish sentiments because of slower demand. The prices though remained stable despite weak demand in the Ludhiana market.

The decline in prices hurt the spinners and weavers as Reliance Industries Limited (RIL), the largest supplier of polyester in India increased the prices of raw materials last week.

Sluggish demand persisted in Gujarat’s Surat market putting pressure on prices. The prices for 30-count yarn slipped by INR3-4 per kg which was traded at INR137-138 per kg (without GST) while the price of 40 counts poly spun yarn was quoted at INR152-153 per kg. Weavers and garment manufacturers according to traders were not confident about demand from end-users.

On the other hand, Polyester-cotton and polyester yarn were sold steadily in the Ludhiana market though the demand was very low depicting the weak sentiments in the entire value chain. Garment units were still operating at limited capacity. The price of 30-count PC combed yarn (48/52) was INR217-230 per kg (GST inclusive) in Ludhiana. The price of 30-count PC carded yarn (65/35) was quoted at INR202-212 per kg. The 30-count poly spun yarn was available at INR151-158 per kg. The price of recycled polyester fibre (PET bottle fibre) is much lower at INR74-77 per kg.
