Recover ™ joins the Denim Deal

Recover™ is pleased to announce that it is now a signatory of the Denim Deal. Together with leading jeans makers and other stakeholders, we have pledged to work together to improve sustainability in the jeans industry and collaborate on finding sustainable solutions to close the production loop. Recover™ is a leading material science company and global producer of low-impact, high-quality recycled cotton fiber and fiber blends.

Ms. Helene Smits, Chief Sustainability Officer at Recover™, said, “We are very excited to contribute to the Denim Deal and join all the amazing frontrunners that are already part of the initiative. At Recover™, we are 100% aligned with the project goal – make three million jeans garments containing at least 20% recycled textiles – and very committed to playing our part to make this a reality.”

About Denim Deal: In the Denim Deal, it has been agreed that brands such as Scotch & Soda, MUD Jeans, and Kuyichi together make three million jeans garments containing at least 20% recycled textiles. In addition, all parties have agreed that they will work together towards the standard of at least 5% recycled textile in all denim garments as quickly as possible. It takes 8000 liters of water to make one pair of jeans, and the total emissions from the textile industry worldwide are more than all the emissions from international air, and sea transport put together. There is a world to be gained in the textile industry regarding smart and economical use of raw materials.
