Sales of Chinese textile spinning machines stable in H1

The China Textile Machinery Association (CTMA) released data that revealed that in the first half of 2023, sales of overall spinning-related machines were relatively stable, due to good domestic demand from local spinning mills, although exports witnessed a downside.

In the period under review, around 3,100 high-speed carding machines were sold, up 5.1 percent from a year ago period, of which 960 were exported. Around 620 combing machines were sold, again a rise of 5.1 percent over the same period of earlier year, of which 310 combers were exported.

However, sales of spinning draw frames fell 8 percent year on year to almost 2,300 units, of which 1,100 units equipped with autolevelling devices were sold and approximately 450 units of draw frames were exported.

Sales of roving frames totaled about 460 units or 82,000 spindles fell by 4.2 percent year-on-year, of which 68 roving frames were exported. Sales of ring-spinning machines touched about 2.2 million spindles, up 10 percent, of which exports accounted for 270,000 spindles.

Approximately 330 automatic winding machines were sold in the first six months of 2023, a year-on-year drop of 15.4 percent. Additionally, 1,400 short fibre twisting machines were sold, down 33.3 percent year on year, while 150 units were exported.
