The fourth Sustainable Apparel Forum (SAF) is again set to take place in Dhaka on March 16, 2023, at the Radisson Blu Water Garden which will bring together key players of the Bangladesh apparel industry.
Numerous topics related to apparel production and worker’s rights would come under discussion. There will be a lecture followed by a discussion on climate action that is essential for the well-being of the workers as well as the sustainability of the fashion industry.
Ms. Felicity Tapsell the head of responsible sourcing at Bestsellers of Denmark. She will highlight the Bestseller approach in Bangladesh while outsourcing its orders. Another topic on the circular economy of Bangladesh is where various speakers would highlight the efforts being made in Bangladesh toward the circular economy in its apparel and textile industry.
The country director at Wateraid Bangladesh Ms Hasin Jehan would highlight the benefits of investments in water and sanitation not only on the health and well-being of the workers as well as in boosting the business. The Bangladesh apparel sector frequently faces criticism of low wages. The forum would discuss the advancing decent work in Bangladesh. The details in this regard will be shared by Syed Fazle Niaz who is the team lead at better work in the International Labor Organization.
Being the second largest global source of apparel supply the Bangladeshi The forum aims to position Bangladesh as a better choice for sourcing apparel on various compliance issues like climate change and worker’s rights. The agenda of talks includes contributions by Lewis Perkins from the Apparel Impact Institute, Joyce Tsoi from the Sustainable Apparel Coalition, Syed Fazle, of the International Labour Organisation, and Saatchi Doshi, of Fashion for Good, to name a few.
In addition to plenaries and seminars, the one-day event will also feature an exhibition space for ‘green’ resources and numerous networking opportunities.
