Textile exports growth from Jan-June 2018

In the first half of 2018, Turkey’s total textile and raw material exports increased by 8% to US$ 5.3 billion. During this period, Italy proved to be the most important export market as its exports to Italy rose by 5.8% to US$ 474 million. Its technical textiles also showed growth by 20.1% amounting to US$ 898 million.

The second major export market was Germany. In the first half year, textile and raw material exports of Germany were US$ 440 million up by 8.3% as compared to last year same time period.

Bulgaria was third. In the first half year it recorded the biggest drop of US$ 286 million by 13.7%.

Globally in the first half of 2018, the major product export was of woven fabric. Its export increased by 8.3% amounted to US$ 1.3 billion as compared to the same period previous year. Yarn was the second most exported product which includes Turkey’s 18.1% amounting to US$ 961 million of total textile exports. Knitted group was the third important export product group which increased by 2.3% amounting to US$ 801 million. The fourth was fiber which increased by 16.9% to US$ 337 million.
