Textile group exports contract

According to Pakistan Bureau of Statistics, in June 2018 the textile exports contracted by 1.94% over the same month previous year and remained $1.194 billion against $1.217 billion. However, during July-June 2017-18 the exports of textile group increased by 8.67% over July-June 2016-17 and were recorded at $13.530 billion against $12.450 billion.

A year before June 2018 raw cotton yarn export was $109.368 million which increased to US $124.03 million in June 2018 reflecting an increase of 13.40% while the exports of cotton cloth increased to $188.26 million from $174.973 million showing an increase of 7.60%.

In June 2018, exports of yarn other than cotton increased from US $2.128 million in June 2017 to $3.238 million showing growth of 52.16% while knitwear exports showed a marginal growth of 0.97% and were accounted at $257.423 million from $254.955 million. Towel exports declined by 20.72% accounting for $60.022 million from $75.706 million. Export of tents, canvas and tarpaulin contracted by 42.91% to $.5.441 million from $ 9.531 million. Ready-made garments exports declined by 2.94% from $242 million to $235 million.

For the fiscal year 2017-18 exports of textile group increased to $13.530 billion from $12.450 billion showing an increase of 8.67%. Raw cotton exports from $43.567 million increased to $58.227 million with a growth of 33.65%. Export of cotton yarn increased to $1.371 billion for the last entire fiscal year from $1.243 billion a year before, posting a growth of 10.30%, cotton cloth from $2.135 billion to $2.203 billion with a 3.17% growth, yarn other than cotton yarn from $24.063 million to $33.411 million registering a growth of 38.95%, knitwear from $2.361 billion to $2.719 billion with 15.17% growth and bed wear exports increased from $2.137 billion to $2.261 billion showing a growth of 5.77%.
