VITAS Chairman expects garment export orders will improve from Q4

Chairman of Vietnam Textile and Apparel Association (VITAS) Vu Duc Giang said that textile and garment exports are showing positive signs.

“He also added that orders for the textile and garment industry will gradually improve from the fourth quarter of 2023,” media reports stated.

In the first eight months of 2023, Vietnamese garment exports reached US $26.2 billion, a drop of 16 percent compared to the same period in 2022.

For August alone, clothing exports touched $3.6 billion, down 6 percent as against July 2023 and also down 21.5 percent compared to August 2022.

He added that apparel exports to Japan maintained a growth momentum, while those to the US and EU fell by 22.4 percent and 11.9 percent, respectively.

He further stated that the industry which had set an annual target of $39-40 billion has so far achieved 65 percent of that target.
