Zara launches kids’ Jeans Redesign collection

Zara has expanded its Jeans Redesign collection by introducing a circular denim collection for babies and children by following Ellen MacArthur Foundation’s Jeans Redesign programme.

The fashion brand had earlier launched a Jeans redesign collection for women. All apparel so far marketed under this concept meets Redesign guidelines on traceability, recycling, and durability.

More than 100 leading brands, retailers, and producers spread over 27 countries are operating on the principles of the Ellen MacArthur Foundation’s Jeans Redesign Project which was launched in 2019. The guidelines for these eco-friendly jeans were scripted by over 80 industrialist experts.

Zara claims that all denim collections are designed with their whole life cycle in mind. Each fabric has a minimum of 5 percent recycled content of cellulose-based fibers. In the case of cotton, 20 percent recycled cotton is used.

The apparel can be recycled again. For its children’s wear, the eco-friendly apparel Zara has avoided the use of metal rivets or zippers, instead removable buttons have been used. Zara’s Jean Redesign children’s collections include cargo jeans with elastic waists, worker jackets, loose-fitting jeans with ripped knees, and wide-leg relaxed jeans. The fashion brand offers denim over-shirt, pull-over denim shirts, and more.
