Zero Stone Denim Wash: Soorty’s commitment towards sustainable future

ZERO STONE is the newest pillar of Soorty’s Smart Laundry system that helps achieve the stonewash appearance in denim garments without using the conventional pumice stones. This new method allows savings of resources like water, energy & chemical. With traditional stonewash, the pumice stones and denim garments are put together in an industrial washing machine where garments are repeatedly pounded and beaten in a tumbler. Which eventually gives jeans a vintage and worn look on a freshly made garment.

With this technology, enchanted wash effects are achieved at the lowest 1:1 liquor ratio. Compared to the conventional stone wash, ZERO STONE consumes 43% less water, 18% less energy, 19% less chemical, and 5% less worker impact per garment. This means a significant amount of water, chemicals & stones that are used in the traditional stonewash process are now saved.

Earlier in 2021, Soorty achieved one gold certification and one core certification status of its business from the Alliance for Water Stewardship (AWS), making it the first company to attain this status across all sectors. Soorty’s certification is especially notable. Pakistan is at high risk for water scarcity; the United Nations ranks it as one of the lowest regions with access to safely managed drinking water. The company also carries a gold certification from Cradle to Cradle for its Pure D fabric, made using proprietary Zero Waste Water dyeing technology, and was an early adopter of the Ellen MacArthur Foundation’s Jeans Redesign project, a universal framework for circular denim production.
