A delegation of 25 Chinese textile and garment companies recently visited Egypt to explore potential partnerships in the sector. The group met with Egyptian Minister of Public Business Sector Mohamed Shimy, who highlighted the country’s investment potential.
The delegation was presented with a portfolio of high-value products, including yarns, fabrics, garments, home textiles, and medical textiles produced by Egypt’s Cotton, Spinning, Weaving, and Garments Holding Company. The meeting underscored the growing interest of Chinese investors in Egypt’s textile industry.
This visit aligns with Egypt’s broader strategy to revitalize its textile sector.
The country is establishing two integrated textile cities in Minya and Fayyoum, aiming to encompass the entire textile production process, from spinning and weaving to dyeing and garment manufacturing. One of the key projects under this initiative is the establishment of a massive industrial city for textile and clothing production by the Chinese company Ningxia Mankai, covering more than 3 million square meters and hosting nearly 600 factories with investments worth $9 billion. These developments aim to position Egypt as a leading hub for textile and garment production in the Middle East and Africa.
The Egyptian government’s efforts to modernize infrastructure and offer competitive labor have made the country an attractive destination for foreign investment in the textile sector. The collaboration between Chinese firms and Egyptian authorities is expected to enhance production capacity, modernize facilities, and boost export potential, contributing to the growth of Egypt’s textile industry.
