African delegation from cotton producing countries call on Governor

A delegation of four African ambassadors from cotton countries, Mr Eloi Laourou;Benin, Dieudonne Windewouga Sesire; Burkina Faso, Ngarbatinan; Chad and Mamodou Henri; Mali called on Punjab Governor Malik Muhammad Rafique Rajwana at the Governor house. Dr Tauqir shah, World trade organization representative was also present at the meeting as well as APTMA members and Dr Khalid Abdullah, Cotton Commissioner Ministry of National Food Security and Research.

The governor said, “Cotton is one of the important crops of Pakistan. Pakistan is the fourth largest cotton producing country of the world. The government has provided 100 billion rupees subsidy to the farmers. Pakistan is a peace-loving country and rejects negative propaganda against others.

Our cause and goal was common and it was our common interest to benefit from the experiences of one another for the increase of cotton produce”.

He also praised the role of APTMA in cotton processing and said Pakistan earns huge foreign exchange from the cotton industry.
