Taiwan Textile Federation (TTF) is organizing a two-day online streaming event to assist Taiwan’s industries for their sustainability efforts with the support of the Bureau of Foreign Trade.
Pollution is a major issue in the world. The fashion industry is considered the second most polluting industry in the world. Each year, half a million tons of microfiber, an equivalent of 3 million barrels of oil, is being dumped into the ocean.
Similarly, 20% of global wastewater is used by the fashion industry annually.
Taiwan textile firms are known as the main suppliers of the world’s functional textiles (70% share).
The firms have shown keen interest in minimizing environmental footprints and be more socially responsible. Through innovative research and development, sustainable fabrics are developed from waste bio-based materials and PET bottles to help lessen the burden on mother earth.
The two-day online streaming event will be held via TTF’s Textile Export Promotion Project (TEPP). The Program will be available on official Facebook and YouTube channels on the 11th and 12th of November at 9:00 AM CET; come and watch what the textile industry is doing to reduce pollution and stop global warming.
