An Interview with Holder Fisher Managing Director Euro Centra Company Ltd. Germany.

“Pakistan has become one of the leading textile producing countries in regards to sustainability and circularity”
Euro Centra Company Ltd. (The Wünsche Group) is an internationally active service and trade company shaped by traditional merchant values, with over 30 branch offices worldwide and more than 25 independently operating companies. TEXtalks is pleased to present an exclusive interview of Holder Fisher, Managing Director, Euro Centra Company Ltd. for the interest of our readers.

TEXtalks: Germany and Pakistan are celebrating 70 years of friendship, what would you say?
Holder Fisher: Germany and Pakistan have always been keeping a close friend- and relationship and it is nice to see that this has also led to a well-functioning business relationship, especially in regards to the textile industry. Germany was one of the main drivers within the EU to let Pakistan get the so-called EU-GSP+ status. Thus import duties were removed from products coming into the EU helping Pakistan to boost their exports.

TEXtalks: How are you contributing to the advancement of the textile industry in Pakistan?
Holder Fisher: Our Company Eurocentra Pakistan has been intensively working together with Pakistani textile producing companies since 1999 and we have always been focusing on Social Compliances and Sustainability. The main goal is to make Pakistani textile suppliers “green”, meaning that they will be able to produce textiles in a sustainable way and to take care of resources like water, energy etc.

Meanwhile Pakistan has become one of the leading textile producing countries in regards to sustainability and circularity.

TEXtalks: For how long have you been in collaboration with Pakistan’s textile market?
Holder Fisher: I have been working with Pakistan’s textile market since 1991 and have shifted all business from other markets like Turkey or India to Pakistan.

TEXtalks: Pakistan is a potential market, what would you suggest to increase the reach of Pakistani products to Germany?
Holder Fisher: The major topics are clearly Sustainability, Circularity and Transparency. If Pakistan is further developing in these fields it will certainly have a very positive impact on the exports to Germany. Being a German I can say that these ecological factors play a very important role for Germany and people in Germany favor “green” products.

TEXtalks: Any special comments / messages to the readers on the 70th Friendship Anniversary?
Holder Fisher: Right now there are discussion within the EU about the GSP (import duty free) status which has been granted to Pakistan and that Pakistan is going to loose this important GSP-free status because of some human rights issues (e.g. the Pakistani blasphemy law) or labor rights. I hope that the Pakistani government will be able to solve these issues. If Pakistan will loose the GSP-status for the EU it would create huge problems for the textile exports to Germany and other EU countries.
