An Israel’s company has developed the first-ever water-free dyeing system in the world. This innovative method is more likely to print a design than the traditional way of dyeing, consuming huge gallons of water and ultimately producing hazardous pollutants to the environment. Precision-sprays the yarn with a dye specially designed to penetrate every fiber, rather than using conventional methods that need huge volumes of water and chemicals.
Not only this, but the machine also produces sample pieces of yarn required by the clothes designers for color checks and selection before placing an order.
This innovative approach to ensure sustainable textiles has been introduced by Twine Solutions, based in Petach Tikva, central Israel. Senior Marketing Manager at Twine says, “Our machine is a cost-effective solution because companies can prototype and sample much faster than their competition.”
Twine’s machine can dye nearly 6,000 feet (1,800 meters) of polyester yarn per hour. All the user needs to do is load raw or white thread, choose the desired color and length on its touch screen, and it does the rest.
Water waste has brewed up as a topmost issue for the textile industry, causing enormous harm to the environment.
The average dye factory uses about 1.7 million liters of water a day, and the textile industry overall wastes about 200 billion liters of water a year.
In fact, it takes about 500 gallons of water just to make enough fabric for one sofa.
