The International Cotton Advisory Committee (ICAC) has forecasted that global cotton production and consumption will remain stable in the 2025–26 season, with production at approximately 26 million tonnes and consumption at 25.
7 million tonnes. This projection reflects a slight increase from the 2024–25 season, where production was 25.
687 million tonnes and consumption was 25.526 million tonnes.
Regionally, the ICAC anticipates production gains in Brazil, the United States, and West Africa. However, these increases may be offset by a slight decline in China’s output, which is projected to produce around 6.3 million tonnes—still the highest globally but slightly less than the current season.
Global cotton trade is expected to rebound to 9.65 million tonnes, indicating a recovery in international demand. Despite this, consumption faces challenges due to anticipated tariff hikes, regulatory challenges, and competition from alternative fibers.
The A Index price forecast ranges between 56 and 95 cents per pound, reflecting the complex interplay of supply and demand dynamics.
These projections underscore the need for strategic planning and investment in the cotton sector to address emerging challenges and capitalize on growth opportunities in the global market.
