US upland cotton sales at 109,300 bales as new season begins, says USDA

According to the US Department of Agriculture (USDA), net sales of Upland cotton for the 2025–26 marketing year reached 109,300 running bales (each weighing 226.8 kg or 500 lb) during the week ending July 31, 2025, coinciding with the start of the new season on August 1..

Major buyers included Vietnam (53,400 RB)—though some orders were reduced by 3,200 RB—followed by Peru (20,300 RB), Mexico (7,800 RB, including reductions of 300 RB), Pakistan (7,400 RB), and Bangladesh (7,100 RB). Sales were moderated by reductions in shipments to Honduras, Nicaragua, Thailand, and China.

Total export shipments for the period amounted to 182,300 RB, marking a modest 1% year-on-year increase, with accumulated exports rising to 11,191,200 RB, up from 11,070,400 RB in the previous year. The top destinations for these exports were Vietnam (39,600 RB), Pakistan (34,600 RB), Bangladesh (29,400 RB), Türkiye (24,100 RB), and Mexico (11,900 RB).

Meanwhile, Pima cotton net sales reached 5,300 RB—primarily for China (2,300 RB), India (1,300 RB), Egypt (900 RB), Türkiye (300 RB), and Vietnam (300 RB). Export shipments of Pima totaled 9,000 RB, reflecting a robust 35% increase year-on-year, with accumulated exports climbing from 321,800 RB to 435,000 RB. Key Pima destinations were India (3,000 RB), Vietnam (2,200 RB), China (1,300 RB), Egypt (1,100 RB), and Pakistan (900 RB).
