The International Cotton Advisory Committee (ICAC) has released the 2025 edition of its renowned Cotton Data Book, delivering the most detailed picture of global cotton production, trade, and sustainability metrics available anywhere.
Covering 38 countries that collectively produce the vast majority of the world’s cotton, the publication distills an immense amount of verified data — from water, fertilizer, and pesticide use to labor, costs and market trends — into a streamlined, 870+ page format.
“The ICAC Cotton Data Book is the only global resource that captures the full story of cotton production every year — from field to fiber — representing more than 99% of world output,” said Dr. Keshav R. Kranthi, ICAC Chief Scientist and author of the report. “It is a labor of love, built on gathering, validating, and presenting reliable data to help researchers and policymakers address the real challenges and opportunities for a more sustainable cotton future.”
Key features include:
- Global, country, state, and province level statistics on production, yields, and trade of by-products,
- Detailed input use and footprint data for water, fertilizers, and pesticides,
- Economic insights into production costs, market values, and net returns,
- Technical details on varieties, fiber traits, pests, and diseases,
- Regional comparisons and trends from 2001–2024, and much more.
