New fabric redefines comfort and safety for workers in high-risk industries
At A+A 2025 in Düsseldorf, DuPont (NYSE: DD) unveiled Tyvek APX, a next-generation disposable chemical garment fabric designed to balance advanced protection with unmatched breathability. Representing the most sophisticated evolution of Tyvek to date, the innovation marks a major leap in personal protective equipment (PPE) for industrial, pharmaceutical, and chemical sectors.
“Tyvek APX addresses one of the toughest challenges in worker safety—achieving breathability without compromising durability or performance,” said Dave Kee, Global Business Director at DuPont Personal Protection. “It helps workers perform at their best, especially in demanding environments.”
With rising regulatory and corporate emphasis on worker well-being, breathable PPE has become critical for preventing heat stress and improving on-the-job comfort. Tyvek APX coveralls feature moisture-release and air-circulation properties that maintain protection while dissipating body heat—helping prevent overheating during extended use.
Independent testing by Empa, Switzerland’s research institute for materials science, confirmed the physiological benefits of Tyvek APX in controlled studies comparing traditional protective garments and the new fabric under varying temperature and activity levels. Complementary global wear trials involving nearly 300 participants across climates and industries reinforced the fabric’s superior comfort and wearer preference.
For more than 50 years, Tyvek has been synonymous with trusted protection in industrial safety. With Tyvek APX, DuPont extends that legacy, merging science and comfort to redefine the standard for breathable chemical-protective clothing—proving that safety innovation can feel as good as it performs.
