Intertextile Shanghai Home Textiles 2026 puts circularity, well-being and lifestyle sourcing centre stage

The August fair will combine more than 100,000 square metres of sourcing with 2027 trend forecasts that point towards expressive interiors, restorative design and practical circularity.

Intertextile Shanghai Home Textiles – Autumn Edition will return to the National Exhibition and Convention Center from August 18–20, 2026, bringing exhibitors from 19 countries and regions across more than 100,000 square metres. Buyers from 72 markets have already pre-registered, including IKEA, Inditex, Walmart, Tesco, Alibaba, Li & Fung and Nitori.

Three directions shape 2027
The fair’s central trend theme, “BREATHE UP!”, was developed with forecasting agency NellyRodi and identifies three directions for 2027: RE-DECORATE, RE-CONNECT and RE-USE.

RE-DECORATE favours stronger colour, rich textures and artisanal craftsmanship as consumers use interiors for greater self-expression. RE-CONNECT moves towards calmer environments, combining pared-back aesthetics with functionality and emotional well-being. RE-USE puts recycled materials and circular processes into the design conversation rather than treating sustainability as a separate product category.

For home-textile manufacturers, the three themes point towards opportunities in textured upholstery, decorative fabrics, functional bedding, recycled-material constructions and products combining tactile appeal with measurable environmental attributes.

Sourcing expands beyond textiles
A new Home Textiles Lifestyle Zone will integrate carpets, wallpapers, aromatherapy and home accessories, reflecting the convergence between textile sourcing and broader interior-lifestyle concepts. The fair is also expanding its e-commerce offering and contract-business focus as digital retail, hospitality and commercial refurbishment become more important channels.

International sourcing will include a dedicated Türkiye Zone, while major Chinese textile clusters including Haining, Shaoxing, Tongxiang and Wujiang will showcase curtains, upholstery, sofa and printed fabrics. Nine hosted-buyer delegations will represent 21 markets.

Buyers want design backed by evidence
The commercial signal extends beyond colour forecasting. Home-textile suppliers increasingly need to combine aesthetics with recycled content, durability, functional performance and credible sustainability documentation.

The strongest opportunity at Shanghai will therefore belong to mills that can turn the RE-USE and RE-CONNECT concepts into scalable products with verifiable material and performance data, rather than relying on sustainability-oriented storytelling alone.
